Hi,
I am returning to the airwaves after a 40 year break!! Back in 1978-1980 I was living in Belgium and very active DXing with people all over the world, at the height of the sunspot cycle of course. Back then I was using a little known Rystl CB-4082 unit (would love to find another one as I didn't hang on to it) which was amazing (based on a Cybernet chassis I think). Shortly after I moved to the UK and never returned. I joined Vodafone (then called Racal-Vodac) and was there when we made the very first mobile telephone call in the UK in 1985, quite a special moment. I was also there when the first text message was sent and remember thinking "who's going to use that?", hahaha talk about getting it wrong.
Now operating a Turner Plus Three desk microphone (the only remains of my old equipment, I just could never part with it, it remains the most iconic in my opinion) on a Yaesu FT-840 and about to erect a Sirio 2016 (5/8 wave) base antenna.
Looking forward to meeting many of you on the 11m band, if you could please issue me with a call sign at your convenience.
Many thanks
Marc (Swindon, Wiltshire)
