Hi Paul,
I find a hot glue gun handy for the smaller jobs like tacking wires out of the way etc. on projects/repairs and in the end just grab a small generic gun for use. (I think taking 7 or 8mm sticks?) They seem to be available cheaply everywhere and you can grab those small sticks from most outlets so never run out.
As with literally anything it can all get 'serious' with larger guns and 'specialist' sticks but I've never bothered with any of that faff. Handy as if the gun I'm using packs up, (usually from forgetting to unplug them!), the missus can sling another onto the online shopping list and off I go again.
That might not be of help but certainly does the job for me. I think my old Yaesu FT757gx still has hot glue holding LED's in place for the s-meter which is still nice and bright!
All the best, Victor

I used a cheap eBay gun for years, but have recently upgraded to a battery Ryobi, whcih has been a Godsend in usability when outside doing stuff!
Gluesticks - I just buy whatever is on special, as I only really use it for sticking toroids inside boxes and the like. Anything where I need strength, I use epoxy!

Just a little reminder hot glue guns are just like the animal glue used for cabinet makers use, Try to warm the joint you are glueing so not to have a cold joint .
