Version 6 software programming utility. USB programming lead
Error cannot set comm port.
Laptop running Windows 10 (Argh).
Any thoughts about this welcome.

Did you look in device manager to see what com port your cable is on. Also did you pick it in the software setup. Not used that software for a long time now so can't think of anything else.

Thanks Alan, windows device driver was the key.
I sent you a pm with what I did BUT as I can't post links for 7 days, I can't seem to add it to a reply. Bottom line, I can now read and write to the radio.

Glad you sorted it out. That would have been my next suggestion drivers. Long time ago since i had one of them but can vaguely remember a driver disc with my cable. It's getting the same now with any radio that you need a specific driver. I run a Yaesu FT991A and the driver for the cable put's 2 com-ports in but you only need the enhanced port no idea what the other port is for but id does cause some confusion lol.
Edit i got the pm but only just come out to the shack and turned this pc on.
