About 2 months ago I had the thought of a Galaxy DX-979 sitting up on a shelf... Whoopee! I sure do have a almost new in box one!! I find out that the local (within 100 miles local) CB/Ham radio shop is still open so I do a "Recon" mission, walk in and "trip" over the Stryker SR-955HP which I had been trying to find online... And Yup, he's got 2 for sale, 1 came home with me ... My KL20P burners came in Tuesday so it's yet another trip to the toy store with a burner, my DX-979 & Astatic 636L so he can match up the radio & burner for a nice tight, clean, clear signal! No splatter junk on my bench! I am looking for base station antenna inputs as that's next on the list for the Stryker. I have a 30(ish) foot tower that I can mount it on setting it roughly 6-8 feet above the roof line on this 2 story shack. I am looking for a 10/11/12 meter stick that's fairly broad banded with a ground plane kit. I do have a few trans-match, antenna tuner, type boxes as I am a Ham as well (N3UFJ) Anyway, enough rambling, I'm off to fiddle with these rigs. 73 & Peace. Frenchie

Hi Frenchie,
Great to hear about your new rig there.
Always love how in the States 100 miles is considered 'local'.
You're lucky too in having a tower to use, we have to go through hassle and hell to put anything up like that without some neighbour complaining and calling in officials. There in the States you think H.O.A.'s are a pain in the butt and at times it feels like the whole of the UK is one big H.O.A.!!!
I've seen antennas marketed as "10m/11m/12m" but that usually means it can be tuned on one of those bands not all of them, (many beams are advertised as such), however I have heard good reports made using verticals such as the Imax-2000.
Ah, just went off to find some info and came across this :-

Seems promising and a lot of helpful info provided by an actual user.
Well, I wish you the best with it all and have fun with all those new toys!

The Solarcon I-max 2000 is great on 10 / 11 and 12 straight out the box. At 24ft it is big and does whip about in the wind. Will also work on 15 / 17m.
Paul.

Very nice Frenchie, the IMAX would be a good choice to go with it.
