The one you have is resonant on the 11m band if set correctly.
If you shortened it a bit you could have it resonant on the 10m band.

That's funny  Resonant Antenna, for homebase. 1f606

But in my humble opinion, not helpful to a new member of Charlie Tango.

Hi Pauline, is the antenna for CB or Ham and is it for a vehicle or homebase?

CB 11m band is what Pauline is using.
10m band is a ham band and a license is required.

A Silver Rod most likely not resonant like a lot of antennas.
Put an analyser on it and find out if it is purely resistive, bet it is not.

Does it matter, not really, efficiency is likely more important.

.
Hi Pauline

I did some checking on line and my understanding is there is no antenna that is resonant on both 10 & 11m, so it would be a case of having the Silver Rod set for the 11m band and then use a tuner for the 10m band.

I'm sure there are more knowledgeable folks on CT who will be able to help with ideas on to make an antenna work for both 10 & 11m

All the best & 73

I think one thing that may be causing confusion here is the term resonant.  This has a very specific meaning, and it is not necessarily synonymous with having an antenna workable on both bands.

What you really want is a low enough SWR to get good power transfer, and an effective radiator, at any frequency on which you wish to operate.  Neither are necessarily going to come from merely being resonant, just as having a non-resonant antenna doesn't mean poor performance.  (Think doublet).

To the OP - which specific parts of the 10m band are you interested in operating on? I'm not 100% on the UK bandplan, but here our 10m band is almost 2MHz wide, with CW and digi at the bottom of 28MHz, SSB in the middle, and FM up in the 29MHz portion....and if you then add in the CB band, you could be asking for more than 3MHz of bandwidth from an antenna.  That's a lot, and typically requires a broadband design, which also typically means lower gain and lower efficiency.  Everything is a trade-off.

Depending where you want to operate, you may be able to tune the antenna to get it in the middle, or you may have to tune where you mainly operate and run a (decent) tuner to get elsewhere.

Resonance is what is achieved when you tune an antenna for the frequency you want to use.

If you're asking for suggestions for antennas....

Imax 2000, Sirio 2016/827, Gainmaster are decent.

For DX simple wire dipole set up as an inverted V.  Moxon Beam if you're wanting something more directional without it being a mad size but you'd need a rotator for that.

As stated in the previous post by Northern Crusader, from memory the 5/8 sirio gainmaster covers from around 25.5 to 30mhz (from 10 to 12m).
