Not got a CTR radio but i did have the 9900 and hated it too many small buttons for me. If i was going to get another it would be the 6900 as more old school looking to me.

If you wanted something modern but with an 'old school' look check out the Ares 2 from Anytone.

Hi CRT make great radios. I don’t think you’ll regret getting either of those. The 7900 is large compared to the 9900. It has a big screen that can be seen easily so I’d say it would be better serving in a mainly Homebase role as it’s not going to easily fit in the more modern compact car. The 9900 is smaller so does lend itself to mobile use. It has plenty of power straight out the box but does get warm quickly especially on fm. So a little computer fan is quite helpful. Watch a few YouTube videos but they are all good radios and good value for money
