Just got this radio and i am very happy with feel of the radio and how it works, very good for what i need it for, around a summer house and on the lake in the small boat, back to base, working a lot better than my old Alan 42 hand held, use a longer rubber duck on it and for about 3km it is working well, even in the thick forest area i am ok to get back to base when out with the dash hound, we have Forest radio here on 68 megs and are free to chat on most of the channels but i tend to keep that radio for hunting reports and road reports when out in the wilds of Finland, moose reports and so come on that channel area.

Great feedback on your recent acquisition and your posting is thoughtfully titled should anyone be searching for that particular radio. Nice job
CB frequency handhelds don't seem to be that popular here in the UK, most jumping straight into the UHF or even VHF/UHF walkies. I know they're cheaper, (Baofengs etc.), but by the time you buy two you may then find you need a base station version for better coverage, (tut, naughty), and the costs soon add up. Seems sensible to have such an item if you already have CB gear at home or 'base station'.
I'm not even sure that you have PMR446 frequency use in Finland?
Was fascinated with your 68MHz forest radio mention. Road reports, OK. Hunting reports, not so common in the UK. Moose reports? Then I thought oh crap, imagine driving on a road and suddenly there's a dirty big Moose stood in the middle of the road! That'd sure make a hell of a mess of everything.
Cheers again Glenn, enjoy your radio.
All the best, Victor

Hi Glenn, I really like the look of that radio, nice and compact. I did have the Alan 42 a while back I used to run it in my car with an external antenna and it did a good job for me. I might think about getting one to play with. Cheers.

I’ve just got one of these myself. It’s a great little HT, but I’m having trouble trying to find a compatible speaker mic for it. I thought the Midland MA-26 ( the one for the Midland Alan 42) might work but, no, the pins are a fraction too short ! :-(
