Hi there 'Freebird'. (Sorry, no name on your profile or the posting.)
Welcome to Charlie Tango.
To be issued a call sign we do require some basic information such as your first name so if you can enter those details into your profile admin responsible for call signs will be able to issue you one.
Once that's done call signs are usually issued most days so keep an eye on this posting.
All the best, Victor

Hi Victor Having just returned to CB after many years Im findng things have changed a bit, call signs are new to me. I joind the Tango Echo (Thames Estuary) DX group yesterday and they are in the process of isssuing me a call sign. I joined the Charlie Tango DX group as there seems to be a lot of activity and information. But maybe I shouldnt have joined and just stayed with Tango Echo? Not sure how this works.

Totally up to you and there's nothing stopping you from joining as many groups as you like if you wish. (Can be difficult keeping track of multiple call signs though.)
Call signs are pretty much the norm on the CB bands nowadays but there's still a bunch of people who use first names in small groups or even old style 'handles'.
We're just a bunch of friendly radio operators holding this altogether for the benefit of other radio users providing call signs for free to assist them with their radio work. Seems to work quite well with many CT members worldwide and as you say we're a pretty active bunch but all doing our own thing without being tied down by committee or other such.
The only 'rules and regs' we have are just to simply be nice to each other.
I see you've entered your first name now and it's a pleasure to talk to you Phil.
Just keep an eye out on this posting for when our admin Gary issues you a call sign which as I say usually occurs most days thanks to his exemplary and voluntary work.
Don't hesitate to fire up any questions you may have on the forum and some one is bound to be able to provide answers for you.
All the very best, Victor

Hello Phil, welcome to the forum.
You haven't requested a call sign so I won't issue one just now. If you decide you do want one let me know.
73's Gary.
