Finally made it to Israel on four metres. I could not hear him at first but then there was a short window where the sigs were quite strong.

Well done there Mike.
After being impressed a while back with 2m digi-mode contacts I may have to hook the VHF old girl back up (FT290r). Maybe I can figure out a transverter for her to allow 4m and maybe 6m also? Be fun to try.
Some great contacts you have up on those frequencies and always good to hear about.
All the best, Victor

Thanks Victor.
Just after this contact I went onto 2metres FT8 and worked four Italians. Two were in JN81 the others in JN72 and JN80. Did'nt last that long here but chuffed to get my first 2metre FT8 E's.

Well done Mike with even more cracking contacts!
I've dug the old FT290 out now but scrabbled around like mad trying to find the interface I made for it to hook it up for FT8..... Couldn't for the life of me find it until I realised I'd pulled it apart to make the interface I'm currently using on the HF set!
Ha! I'll just have to grab more parts to make another.
Always enjoy hearing about your successes there Mike and I know it gives at least me the incentive to try such things further.
I'm sure it does others too.

Not much on the radio front recently been doing a lot of chores.
Tonight after tea I went to the shack and managed to work Kazakhstan on 4metres FT8. Have heard others work this country before but the first time I have heard it.
Anyway... 17:49utc UN3M LO61

Four metres been fairly kind to me so far this year, keep finding new grids so reasonably pleased.
This is the tally so far over the last 3 years.

Well done Mike. I can't join in with you on this band unfortunately as it's one I don't even have receive access to.
