Hi all,
Just joined the forum, and would like to introduce myself, and request a callsign.
My name is Gary, and I live in Tiptree, Essex (JO01IT if you use that system!) I'm rarely there however, as I'm a European truck driver, so most of my operating is done on the road, somewhere across the water.
I was sort of active back in the pre-81 days, as my dad was also a driver, and, ahem, responsible for quite a few of the AM radios which found their way into the UK!
Looking forward to making contact with as many of you as possible. Currently using a SS9900, with a Sirio combined 2M / 11M aerial in the truck
Thanks Gary

Hi Gary,
Welcome to Charlie Tango.
I just so happened to be allocating call signs so popped you in without having to wait.
I am delighted to allocate you 26-CT-4773 may you have good luck with it.
All the best, Victor
CT Admin.
Your call sign is made up of a country code (26 being England) the group name (CT for Charlie Tango) and your unique membership number for the England group. This is especially useful for DX contacts providing much information to the other party or those listening. When operating abroad it is always useful to add the country code as a prefix so that the other operator knows where you are transmitting from. So for example '14' is the country code for France and if you were transmitting from there you could give your call sign as "14/26CT4773" showing that you are an English member but transmitting from France. The international country codes can be found on this site but regularly updated lists can be found at the famous Alfa Tango group on the following link :-
Alfa Tango CB Country Codes
I hope that information is of use and wish the best DX to you.
