Happy New Year to all. Wish you all good health, peace and lots of DX.
For quite some time (some say he's been around for a year) I hear a guy on 27.555 with a heavy Russian accent trolling and interfering with the regular traffic (CQ calls) on T5. Really annoying, especially since he seems to be using enormous power. In the video below I am receiving it from the side of my beam (Moxon), so the weakest spot possible, and it's still over S9. I was wondering if nothing can be done, like finding out where and who he is and make this publicly known, for instance? Or would it make sense to promote an alternative call frequency?
Here is a link to a video I made of one of his transmissions today Sunday Jan 7th:

Not the first person to 'troll' the 555 and definitely won't be the last unfortunately. (All I've heard since before Xmas is music on the triple 5!)
It makes sense to have an international calling channel so that one can leisurely monitor for activity but there's nothing stopping anyone from calling CQ from any of the frequencies similarly to how Amateur Radio works.
I've probably had my best calls from tuning around the band and answering CQ's elsewhere or listening to a DX QSO and waiting for the inevitable 'QRZ' that follows. Certainly beats trying to shout over the cacophony that can herald on a single frequency use such as the triple five especially for us 'smaller' stations.
Best not to stress over such nonsense and simply enjoy our radio how and when we can.

Good evening all this man or thing if I say clearly has mental issues and should be ignored so people just winding him up is not helping. He clearly has got it in for the French why I don't know and don't care but like I said by winding him up doesn't help.i in the past have spoken to him he was pleasant to me but that was over a year back so wether he has mental issues or a drink problem who knows ? Anyway I use my own frequency when calling out as if I were on the hf bands much easier and less traffic.

Hello Lads,
Certainly a colourful character, to be polite.
Another good couple of frequencies and modes to work when the tripple is busy, are 27.515 lsb (West Indies calling frequency) and 26.420 usb which is the Charlie Oscars' (Canadian Outlaws) calling frequency.
73s and good DX.

Hello Ian,
We only need Oscar from Italy and the 555 Donkey and we will have the full set. Lol.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and experiences. That's right, unfortunately there are a few more lunatics out there. Tarzan I used to hear and the Donkey as well on T5, but I don't recall hearing them this year. Coca Cola some ten years ago?
Then there is the angry Spaniard, I don't think I need to explain much. He seems to be upset with everyone and everything, from what I get from his Spanish rant. He seems to be taking turns, together with his Belarussian colleague.
I think it's a shame. To me, the freeband is a cult. Even though I've got the paper for the other bands, my main activity is on 11, by far. I like the spirit of the people, who take the time for a chat. Most QSO partners are really relaxed and very friendly. It's an an atmosphere you wont find anywhere else. I belong here.
In December 1983 at the age of 16, I started my activity on 11 meter freeband and a few weeks ago I raised my glass to my 40th freeband anniversary with a few friends. I hope that those trolls and weirdos wont be able to destroy this unique community that doesn't do harm to anybody in the world. I'm looking forward to the next 40 years on 11 meters, on Triple Five and a few other calling frequencies.
But I will take the advice and pick a random free frequency and call there. No one will be able to destroy our community.

If everyone goes either side of .555, up and down 1-2-3 channels that is just punishment.
He will be a deluded fool, playing music to no one but himself, whilst forking out on a big electricity bill.

This man seems to have no other commitments in life. I hear him every day in Germany.
It surprises me that his people haven't looked for him so far... probably, he bothers them too...

It's been a while since I posted this. In the meantime I found out that he's not located in Belarus but in Russia. Once I caught him when he was sober. It was actually quite a nice QSO, decent conversation. His name is Igory. I will try to remember to post the details of my QSO with him - currently on holiday and don't have the logbook with me.
Wish you all a good summer and lots of Sporadic-E.
