Hi there everyone My name is Matt and I’m fairly new to radio. I recently had a crazy idea to build a base station and put an antenna on my roof so I did! Looking around online it’s really hard to find info so I had to learn by trial and error but it was fun.
so far I’ve made two long distance contacts and I now understand how people can get hooked into this. I have no idea what I’m doing otherwise and came here to make friends.

GaryWilson - I have a dumb question.. How do I say it? Do I say the entire thing? Or just Charlie tango - two-six-nine?
Or do i just say 269?

Hello Matt, you'd be surprised how often this question is asked it's not a dumb question at all.
If you are making international contacts then you would read out the whole call sign for the recieving station to log so it would go something like this "Two Charlie Tango Two Six Nine" FYI the Two is your division USA the CT is your DX group and lastly the 269 is your unit number/ personal identifier. When making non international or local contacts you can drop the 2 division number and just say "Charlie Tango Two Six Nine" When chatting to your mates then it's quite usual to use your name.
