Having never used HF(Apart from a wee go on 10m a while ago), I have a wide-banded box being delivered midweek. I have been using a silver rod for 11m and it works ok, so can I assume this will be fine for the HF box on 11m until I get an antenna solution for the other bands?

Hi Tam,
Yes it will be fine with your HF set. If you're lucky and your HF set has an internal antenna tuner you'll also be able to use it for 10 and 12 meters as well.
Best 73 Gary.

Thanks Gary,
It does have an internal tuner so that will allow me to play out of the box so to speak. I will worry about the other bands as I go.

You might even be able to tune the CB antenna down to 20 meters depending on how long the silver rod is, you may get a 1/4 wave on 14MHz with some added ground plane wires.

Thanks mate, will have fun trying and see what works. never had a multi band rig so quite excited to see how it goes. It also has digital modes but that's for another day too.

A m8 of mine has a silver rod and it will tune on several bands and he gets some good contacts on it as well.
