Hello to you all. My name is Andy and I'm from the Durham area of the good old North East. I am very much a newcomer to the world of radio, but I very much appear bitten by the bug so to speak. I bought, as I'm sure many have, a Quansheng uvk6 and very quickly, I became interested in what I could listen too. I have subsequently picked up a Crt Ss9900 so that I can join some of these chats on the 11m whilst also deciding if a foundation Licence for the amateur bands a road I'd like to travel down. Anyway I hope to speak with some of you, any of you, infact anyone for starters soon.

Hi Andy, and welcome to the friendliest radio forum.
The SS-9900 is a great rig, I'm sure you'll have much pleasure using it.
The foundation exam isn't difficult (so I'm told) and apart from power limitations I believe you can access most of the ham bands and use most of the modes others use.
It's a great hobby, but addictive.
