Built up areas are a pain for QRM so much so that I often switch off while driving in those areas. Have you tried the "Run the radio of a battery and killed the house electrics" trick? This is to prove your house is not causing trouble. What you do is turn off each circuit at the fuse box / consumer unit and look at the "S" meter to see if it makes any difference. Once you have done this and noted which circuit is causing the aggro, you then move on to disconnecting each item on the circuit and noting any difference. Some of the "usual suspects" are laptop psu's and "wallwart" chargers and power supplies, cheaply built with suppression components not fitted. The key to what I am saying is (as best you can) nail the QRM at source

I've tried that and in my car and it's the same if I move from my house it disappears I only need to move a few feet I think it's my neighbour's house. I'm going to higher my antron today see if that helps at the moment it's just above the roof

Flat screen tvs are often nasty also solar panel inverters, central heating pumps and pond pumps, years ago it was only flourescent tube lights and chest freezers we had problems with now we have everything from power line internet expanders to badly made switch mode psu,s on laptops and pc,s, Ive even seen a phone charger that when pluged into the house mains gave a s9 rubbish boost hence Ive spent so much time on a mag loop which is not the bees nees on tx but doesnt pick up all that rubbish drifting about in the building, I have often thought about building an auto tx rx switch to receive on the loop and tx on something else, I will wait and see what I get when I string out a wire at this qth.

Forgot to say my Alinco lights bounce about like something crazy just back off the RF gain a bit they are renound for it but backing off wont kill any stations audio, mine is nice through a BHI noise away but its not worth the price unless you intend to also use it on other noisy HF bands, my Alinco has an anoying pop when the mic is keyed (first key of the day is worst) but I like the radio so will keep it and hopefully a mod/fix will be found for the problem at some point in time.

Rich, if the noise is not coming from your house and its going to be difficult to locate and disable, you may want to have a look at one of these, they are effective and low cost...............just a suggestion.
There are plenty of videos on YouTube if you type, 'qrm eliminator X phase' to give you an idea of what they are capable of doing.
Regards and good luck Ady
