Hello John,
I remember these being released about eight years ago the WB version has a wider bandwidth than the original. They got pretty good reviews at the time but in all honesty a half wave is a half wave I can't see it being much different to any of the others available.

Best 73 Gary.

I just purchased one for my holiday home in South of France. Should have it up pretty soon (Currently using a balcony antenna which I have to say is giving me full satisfaction). I will revert back with my feedback!

It will work precisely the same as this does for €60.00

https://www.nevadaradio.co.uk/sirio-gps27-1-2-wave-cb-base-antenna

In essence these are a 5.4 Meter self supporting single piece of copper wire with matching at the bottom.

A DIY 1/2 wave end fed costs about £17.00 with all the parts, good ferites, good wire.

It is just paying for a brand name and if you want to do that that is also fine but the technical facts remain the same. I suppose you have the novelty factor to speak about as few will buy those.

I would probably have not bought one purely based on the fact they say it has 8dBi gain. Which is pure fantasy. You are not paying for their technical honesty, that is for sure.

All of this 100% save your money and get some better feed line as well as a better value half wave.

Not sure I agree because the Himalaya is very wide banded. It’s also very well constructed. Final verdict when it will be up and running.

The Himalaya WB has been up and running for a few days now and I can report very low to no noise, excellent ears and it gets heard pretty loud from all over the world (depending on the propagation that is). Drawback is a steady SWR across all band 26-30 of 1.5/1.7 it probably is due to the antenna not being mounted on the roof but on the side wall of my house with a deported holder. The roof edges rake over the wall at every corner of the house at least one meter hence the tip of the antenna is a tad above the roof edge but positioned to the left of it at about 5 meter from it. It might still be too close and not high enough above it. Anyway I can’t change it now so I just use the integrated antenna tuner of my ftdx10 and all is well.
