| Hi Clive,
Had a scoot round for info on this rig and looks like quite a few people have had alignment issues(?)
Only info I found on actual alignment was by MW0UZO :-
AT5555 alignment
Looks a bit involved for your average home user so might be a job for a repair shop.
Anyway, best I could find. Hope that helps. Victor

| Thanks for the Info Victor. Yeah it looks a bit in depth unless you have the right kit.
Thanks again

| Yeah, sorry about that Clive. Not so straight forward Found some 'stabs-in-the-dark' hidden menu stuff, but unless you know what you're doing it'd probably make it all worse. Hope you get sorted mate. All the best, Victor | |

| Hello Clive, have you tried resetting back factory defaults on the unit? This solution helped me with a similar problem.

| I'd only try a full factory reset as a last ditch attempt if you've already resigned to taking it to a repair shop.
It may work and you save the repair/setup cost which is great, but you could also make it worse.
Manufacturers have 'adjustable/calibration' settings to allow for component & design variations. They may make a modification or substitute component, (whatever varicaps, caps or such are available or cheaper cost), and batch program that production run with the 'offset' values accordingly. Some manufacturers individually 'calibrate' radio's, usually the big boys, Yaesu/Kenwood etc. which is often why the hidden or service menu values differ from radio to radio.
Anyway, just worth mentioning.

| If I remember rightly this was a problem when they first came out and I dont think it was just on the V5 it was also on other versions too and and lot of people complained so I think there was some sort of recall on the radios what happened I dont know cos I've never owned one of these computer programmable radios dont like them because of these problems they seem to get I stick to the very old school radios bit easier to sort out lol , there use to be a website dedicated to these radios because when they first came out there was a hell of lot of teething problems with them and the clones of them try for search it still might be on line ,or as Vic said get a professional look at it ,good luck | |

| Thanks for the Info. Yes I think this problem might need to be given to someone with the correct test gear. Cheers | |

| I've remembered another little quirk those radios have ,first a question you say when on 12 high which is 27:555 it reads 420 if you go to the channel above or below 12(27:555) are the read out wrong also , if there ok try this go on 12 and turn the clarifier around until it reads 27:555 then switch it off then switch it back on and see what happens, I cant explain by typing easier for me to tell you face to face which I cant lol but its something to do with the clarifier has it's own memory and if not reset it just goes to what ever it was frequency it was left on that channel, sorry I cant explain it better try what I said and let me know ,good luck | |

| Hi. When I am on 27.555. To be able to hear anyone on ssb I have to turn the clarifier to 420 in order to get the correct frequency of 27.555. ( readout is on 27.420). Yes it's the same if I move the channels. I have to use the clarifier.
I am going to bite the bullet and send it to someone that has the correct test gear.
Yeah older radios, at least you can work on them. These newer ones with surface mount components are a pain. Everything is so small internally.
I haven't tried powering off when clarifier has set the frequency, but will do tonight.
Yes I have reset it to factory default a few times.
Thanks for taking time to reply Clive
