Sometimes it is better to let people know what to expect. It might get the numbers up into the Thousands,LOL
If it were me and I had never had a play with a good Antenna, I would want to go and have a play. Need to Chisel Trevor out of the seat.
How often would you get the chance to play with a Quad on a tower and a shitty old K-wood linked to a very shitty Acom Amp.
Kinda gives the weekend that extra Bling if its wanted. And it makes me smile with others enjoying the radio and getting DX or mates in the log. Andy 591/P

Subject: The Buxton Beast has awoken for 2021 Sat Aug 08, 2020 9:32 pm
After a month or so of designing, planning and ordering a some Fibreglass rods. I have finally created the 2021 Buxton Beast. I have not tested in yet for frequency, I am sure I shall get it in order fairly quickly
It is never too early to start planning and testing. I need to get it up on the tower a few times to see if there are any weakness with it. The fresh Buxton AIR will soon find them and break it.
This may give you an extra incentive to come and tame the beast for that extra DX in ya log.

LOL
It is temp in my garden, just to get an idea of how to assemble and get it tuned. I will use it on the trailer tower out and about. I dont very often have an antenna up at home, or if I do it is only for a week or 2 and take it down again. Maybe you should explain to your missus what a fantastic clothes dryer it could be when there is no skip.

Ha! Ha! Ha!
What a fantastic idea! I shall tell her and the neighbours it's a "Dyson" rotary clothes dryer
Honestly, very impressive antenna and build. I may have to come and see it in person.

Hi All I Been out in the morning running a few final checks on the Buxton Beast.
I changed the wire from Insulated to bare Flex weave 2mm. and got a 900kc difference for the better with the same lengths.
I am happy now

So Andy,
In comparison to some of your other great antenna achievements (of which there are many) on paper (or should I say computer) how well on the list does this one sit, Is it up there with the 6 element yagi?
I know this was your first quad build, but I pretty much think you have it to a tee. Congratulations.

I have designed and built for 11mtr. 5 ele LFA, 4,5,6 ele yagis, 5 and 6 ele wideband yagi for 10 and 11. 5 ele OP des after seeing it. on the Innovation site. The LFA driven element was a challenge, and the antenna worked well. Of course the Moxons as well. I have built many yagis now from 7 ele 70cms to 4 ele mono 20mtr.
As you say, the quad was a good challenge, had to do a bit of homework with that one. Source the spreaders , cut the wires to correct lengths. What I didnt figure on was using insulated wire and how far out things would be. Nearly 1 mhz low into 26mhz territory. Rebuild and test with bare wire and pretty much bang on. Engineering and calculation wise. The quad has been the hardest so far. I need to get some testing done, but will score the Antennas I have built in order of what I would use again. Op Des i would give 3 out of 10 , moxon 6 out of 10( will work on 10 and 12 with atu ) , LFA 6 out of 10, yagi 6 out of 10( maybe 7 as easiest of all to build and use), quad ranking higher but not tested yet.
This is my opinion, and I know others have their own.
