Name here is Tony QTH is Rotherham. I have been into SWL since 10ys old and then CB in the good old AM days. Learned my 11mtr techniques by listening around and eventually got round to pressing PTT. CB was easy enough but 11 meters was a whole different ball game.
Having worked the world mainly from my mobile station and belonged to some of the top 11 meter Groups I got a little tired and bored and decided to sell up.
Soon after, I decided to sit my RAE Ticket, passed and Amateur Radio opened up another world to me. Very exciting although very expensive. I was still mainly mobile at the time before i thought I had enough of sitting in the cold living on sandwiches and coffee. Staying out 2 or 3 nights a week in the car. Ended up taking quilt and pillows which made things easier although I couldn't carry a toilet Soon after I just worked from home which is what I am still doing today.
It was purely by accident I came across Fred in a shed on Youtube which lit the light again for me.
Now 58 and a couple of heart attacks and strokes later I purchased a CRT SS9900 radio and President McKinley radio. Still in listening mode, local CB is CH-19 still with f...ing this f..ing that music and god knows what power, I decided to switch back to 11 meters.
Funny really. Still Italy with the power I had to laugh. Anyway thats the intro and would like to apply for a callsign please If possible, 324 if it's available or 125. Many thanks to Fred in the Shed Stay Safe Tony in Rotherham

Hi Tony, Daz from Barnsley here, hopefully pick you up on air soon but yes, still a lot of swearing and mucking about on FM isn't there? Fred in the Shed was my bane too, still waiting for my silver pole to arrive so I'll keep an ear out on a few days. Regards Daz 26ct3900

Thanks for the welcome guys. Its like going back in time. Yet to find anyone using AM. Unfortunately at home I have high levels of QRN which is spoiling things a little. Makes it more difficult to hear those week stations.
Sure I will get there eventually. Cheers Tony

Hello Tony, welcome to the forum.
Nice intro! Unfortunately all three digit call signs were allocated years ago so I did my best with four digits for you.
I am delighted to allocate you 26-CT-4324 may you have good luck with it.
73's Gary.
