The Kilo Papa calling frequency was always 27.515 LSB as the group actually started in Trinidad and Tobago not the USA as people thought. So that frequency for the group calling frequency makes sense.

Wonder what antenna they had on the rig that covered such a wide range.
They had a long wire around the perimiter of the helideck held off on insulators and fibreglass whips that went out on a slight angle so they didnt go above the helideck. I don't remeber cause I left in 1986 but I imagine the whips were possibly different They used to work to the following shore stations from NW of the Shetlands Wick Radio Cullercoates Radio I remember they referred to each other as "old man". They would move frequency bands throughout the day to reach the shore station.

I had several qso's on 26.285 and 26.245 the other day, on 27.555 i've only heard Hispanic conversations on USB and LSB here in the USA.

I remember using that part allot in the 90s when I still was a Sierra Charlie DX group (from Cornwall) member.
Used to have allot of FM nets in that part with the Sugar Charlie dx group. Great memories!
The Sierra Charlie DX group from Cornwall stopped many many years ago if I remember correctly.
