And while there is mugs out who will buy the stuff like that it will be sold , this has been a problem for a long while over inflated prices for what is really junk on anything to do with CB radio , example 40 channel Audioline UKFM radio on ebay £100 starting price ,then you see old favourite the Cobra 148gtldx that makes me some of those going for£400 it's a joke but as I siad while there mugs or so called collectors lol who will pay it will carry on ,but it's a shame because its ruineing it for the the genuine everyday CB er chances of buying radios they like for a decent price

Well said Martin mate!
Although some call it 'enterprise' I've been disgusted at asking prices for radios recently. The same is true of CB or Ham gear, all at over inflated prices. If someone isn't in the 'know' they think it's the going price!
Luckily some of those radios sit on the likes of eBay for months on end without selling. Although it has been known for unscrupulous sellers to 'sell' the radio to a mate to give the impression of a going price and then relist it sharing out the 'profits'! (Some have mates just to 'bid-up' the prices!)
Chancers also try and ask the same prices as a professional reseller store.....except the professional outfit checks their gear, gives a warranty and a money back guarantee!
As for the people that buy these boxes to resell their cr*ppy old radios with the original and 'boxed' nonsense..... they're no better to me than someone dumping tarmac on your drive or the plumber scaring a pensioner into a whole new boiler system.
Some call it supply and demand, you only have to look at the requests for CT callsigns or Ham ticket passes over the last year. In which case these 'sellers' are no better than the scum that tried selling bog paper for a quid a roll last year!
Grrr, does make me angry.

I had an Excalibur too Alan in fact I had two ,at different times not at once lol had most of the old Cobra range at some point on and off, I had a very nice 148gtldx fully modded when from 25mhz to just under 29mhz UKFM also fitted variable wattage also 10kc shift and like a mug I swopped it for another Excalibur and a cash deal money coming to me ,the reason was I was going to get the Excalibur fully modded but after getting it forgot there was no local rig doctors to do the mod for me ,and all the rig Dr's where far away and it would cost me an arm and leg to post it and get the job done so I sold it and got something else which I cant remember what.

I can remember about 5/6 year ago there was mad craze for the Jentec version of the Cobra 148gtldx they was going for really ridiculous prices anything up to £900 ,OK people in the know of radio have heard of these versions and know John Nugent the exalent designer and builder of these radios if not best google him , and yes they was good radios back in the time they was made but there no different to some of the modern radios of today in specifications just they had far superior components in them , anyway he only made a few but on Ebay it seemed like there was loads for sale infact more than Mr Nugent had ever made so some poor people didnt know if they was buying fakes or the real thing and because of this it put the normal Cobra 148gtldx price up too by some saying in there ads may have tuned by John Nugent it was crazy.

Yep John I remember too mate ,and a certain place called Cobraworkshops not helping the craze either by selling copies of 148 faceplates in the style of Jentec version of the radio , and now it seems its started again but with old UK40 27/81 radios and some old multimodes
