Hi Simon,
Welcome to Charlie Tango.
You definitely are an avid SWL with the receivers you listed in your profile, loved the old "Frog"!
I've been a life long listener and still have my old Lowe HF225 I like to fire up. Despite utilising CB radio for transmission and passing my Foundation licence last year, (I'm older than you and apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks!), I still like to tune those bands and simply listen.
Call signs are usually issued most days so you shouldn't have to wait too long.
Hope it helps you to transition from a listener, to one being listened to.
All the best, Victor
