Hi danny1david,I’m using a Siirio GPE 27 5/8 and what a great antenna for the price. As I only use it for the 11 metre band I adjusted the top section to 487mm which supposedly is for 27.555 MHz.But only use their adjustment setting as a rough tuning table because you may have to give it a little tweak. At that measurement I’m pretty spot on SWR wise 1.1-1.2 on 26.515 right though to 27.855 with hardly a movement on the needle. So there’s quite a good band width with your final chosen setting. 10 metres suggests 183 mm so you have to have a play around until you find the right medium band wise. 26.4 - 850mm 27.0 - 642mm 27.185 - 600mm 27.5 - 487mm 28.0 - 340mm (10 metre) 28.5 - 183mm 29.0 - 15mm Hope that helps as once you tuned it to where you want it’s a great antenna. But your be up and down like I was for a few adjustments..lol Apart from that the QSO’s are amazing.

Sorry Alan meant tuning the top section.
Thanks Chickenfoot@1987 - CT4029. That was a great help cheers. One more quick question can you not SWR the antenna on the ground first before you mount it to the side of the house.?

Some do it that way but it can be out a bit when yOu put it up. Don't have it on the ground touching anything use a short pole to mount it too.

Hi danny1david,As Alan Pilot said you can do it on the ground on a pole just as long as it’s clear and not touching anything.I’m lucky because the antenna is mounted on swaged poles on a bracket and it’s just a matter of loosing U-bolts and sliding the poles down to remove them section at a time. The Antenna is pretty light on its own and it’s a lot safer too as it’s up 30 feet without any poles added. But if that’s not possible and for safety reasons get the SWR as near as possible on the pole or something on the ground.I also found once it’s up you want it there for good,So I used Loctite on all the bolts and screws and they won’t work loose over time and especially that little locking grub screw on the top section. It’s only £5 a bottle and well worth doing and also the plastic sleeves that go over each joint,I wrapped those with Amalgamating Tape. If you’ve never used it before it’s like a rubbery pvc tape which you stretch and wrap around any joint you want to seal.It then bonds to itself making a fantastic water tight seal. It sounds like a lot of mucking about but your know that once that Antenna is up you won’t have to ever touch it again.
Good luck and 73’s CT - 4029

i wish i listened mounted antenna and within an hour tuning section had slipped down.
But to be fair swr up on side band is 0.1 which is what i will be mstly on.
SWR bouncing around a little down below (FM) about 1.3 to 1.8 but i have a antenna matcher which helps bring it back down if needed.
If thas is not ok please advise as you all have been brilliant so far with your advice .
I honestly do not want to go up there agsin, had a few very good local copys and on usb i was picking up all over Europe Spain France and a couple from Cornwall.

FM AM USB LSB the SWR will be the same. It's where you are in the frequency band that affects the SWR. 1.8 is not that bad and 0.1 is the near impossible target.

As Alan noted, SWR should be the same on all modes. When keying up on SSB did you talk into the mic? If not then readings will not be true as you'll not be outputting any power. Just use AM or FM to do the SWR adjustments.
Your readings sound safe and useable but if you can get to it to adjust it a little better that would be my preference if I was in the same position. I would only use a matcher as a last resort.

Thanks guys for all the advice
Will be taking twig down in near future to sort out top section of the gpe. And also going to mount it on a new extension swage pole as chickenfoot suggested.
