I'd watch yourself Alan mate.
Too many of these fan 'mods' do specify quieter units but usually it's because they run slower, move less air or can't keep up any air pressure. I'd rather have a slightly 'noisy' fan than a rig running too hot!

Thanks Victor. Have looked into this a lot but the fan recommended is unavailable. The mod on the Icom recommends the Noctua and i have done that one and it runs cool and silent. I did buy the same in a 60mm for the Yaesu but then read it was not recommended as it had a lower airflow cm ?? so that one is hanging on the wall. Thought somebody might have found a good fan for replacing the Yaesu one.

No worries Alan mate.
I've seen the Noctua fans mentioned a lot but a quick check of the specs shows that they are slower and push less air than the Panasonic OEM unit. Bolting two together definitely doesn't guarantee better airflow or give better noise reduction.
I've never got the 'noisy' fan issues unless your OEM unit is knackered, (a new unit of the same type can be surprisingly quieter). Similarly when a friend complained of fan noise I suggested he moved his rig away from the wall which shocked him of how much quieter it then seemed!
The main issues I've heard of is when a 'super-duper' new desk or boom mic is used and suddenly (?) picks up the fan noise. Usually you can hear the missus in another part of the house watching TV too with such mic setups and the proverbial 'dog farting' or stomach churns of the the op over the QSO.
Not that 'other' house noise should be an issue in your spangly new shack mate but being wood you might be getting a bit of vibration. I keep a bit of carpet tile handy for such things and have a useful cut off beneath my tower PC to quieten that down.
Anyway, I hope you get sorted.

Yep, used that on my ID-880H, and will likely do the 7300 and 9700 too when they're out of warranty. Strangely, the 7610 doesn't seem half as bad as the other two.

The fan on the 991a is not that noise but i can hear it plus as it warms up it gets faster and hear it more. I did manage to find one of the Sunon but not the exact same part number. The power is slightly less at 1.47w witch is a plus and airflow is 39.9 so higher than the stock fan at 27m3/h so i will try it out first before fitting for sound lol. Just checked tracking and looks like tomorrow so i will report back.

QuietPC.com have loads of different sized quiet fans and they show the full specs so show the CFM of air it will shift as well as the noise level in dB. Find out the CFM rating of the original fan and have a look to see what they offer that's the same or higher.

Fan turned up today. Just a quick test 12v direct and does it move some air. Bit loud flat out but i don't think it will run that fast in the radio. Got man flu so found the medicine i got at Christmas and about to take a dose or 2. Glenmorangie 10 year old best medicine i have found and it is a few years since i had any lol.

Let us all know how you get on with the fan there Alan, it may help others.
Hope you feel better soon mate, I got knocked with Covid and was still testing positive after 10 days!!!!
I can attest to a dram or two of the old Glenmorangie for medicinal purposes. (Got gifted a Scottish Whiskey 'taster' set whilst I was ill. )
