Subject: TTI TCB 880H any opinions? Fri Sep 09, 2022 7:23 am
I just spotted an advert on a local auction site for a TTI TCB 880H seems to be a multi norm price is good case not the best cosmetically.
Price is quite attractive looking at what i see online it seem ok as modern radio, anyone here have any experience with one of these? seems to be AM/FM but no sideband

New one to me that one. AM-FM only by the looks of it. Around £100 on the bay from a quick look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWl6tAOaoGY&ab_channel=simonthewizard

Hi Mike,
There seems to be some good details regarding this radio at the following link :-
http://www.cbradio.nl/tti/tti_tcb880h.htm
Although there is mention of wideband modification there doesn't appear to be any details for such. (I only know of the two button push at power on to select band/region.)
Hopefully someone else can enlighten you or a bit of internet searching will herald results.
AM/FM only as you rightly suggest so no SSB.
Maybe of some interest to AM CB radio operators is the way you can BFO or beat frequency oscillator a signal into such a radio to resolve SSB transmission reception.
Peter Parker VK3YE did a couple of videos for such.
Homebrew BFO :-

NanoVNA as a BFO :-

Only any good for reception but interesting nonetheless.

I am thinking it would be a nice to have being relatively modern and seems to have a scan option to keep an ear out for activity on the bands, also thinking SDR could be a useful addition for monitoring bands and seeing how on frequency a radio may be and to look out for that pesky harmonic around 54mhz when using CB
