Hi all,
one for the techies.
I have a President McKinley about a year old has been expanded. Had no problems at with this radio on all modes. It suddenly stopped transmitting on SSB only seems to work fine still on AM and FM. If you key up on SSB and talk into the mic there is no swing on the Diamond SX-200 METER. TX comes up on display but radio draws VERY LITTLE current.
AM and FM seem fine.

Hi Stephano. Since SSB uses your voice to transmit power, have you tried a different mic ? Just a thought.

Few weeks ago i had a Tx fail on the same rig, on SSB, I sent a carrier sig but very bad audio, was a bad coax connection, sorry can't help any more,

Hi Sharpshooter,
yeah I didn't have another mic to try at the time. I since borrowed a mic and tried it and SSB was working, I was using a KPO-532 power mic, which I have subsquently taken apart to find that because of such a strong spring on the PTT switch and over time "lateral movement" had loosened the PTT switch on the circuit board and can only assume it was shorting out, but not sure why it seemed to still work on AM and FM.

Glad you're sorted Stephano, This reminds me of when I wanted a triumph spitfire but bought a Mazda MX-5 instead. My thoughts were that I wanted to drive it and enjoy it rather than fix it every weekend. Then I missed tinkering
