Subject: Homebrew 10m Linear Amplifiers. Fri Mar 10, 2023 5:53 pm
Here's a picture of two homebrew 10m linear amplifiers that I've built, in the last few years.
The top one is a GI-7B triode based one and the larger one is a GS-35B triode based one.

Difficult to say, as the cost of parts can go up and down. Perhaps £300-£400, as many of the parts can be gotten from eBay. The main transformer is a salvaged microwave oven transformer, with the magnetic shunts removed.

I'm building a third one for a friend, then downing tools forever... It'll be similar to the GI-7B build, but with a GI-46B triode instead.

That's a shame Ian as you obviously know what you're doing. (Anode voltages alone are enough to scare off most!)
I do enjoy a good bit of homebrew and thermionic valves hold a fondness but it's all a lot more difficult nowadays with silly prices asked for even the most basic of parts. I hope your skills can still serve you well with other projects as it's always good to keep a hand & mind in such things.
(My once dextrous hands are reduced to 'bear paws' nowadays and I'm slowly going blind as a bat! Still got the tenacity to keep trying things though. )
All the best to you, Victor

Prices are getting silly and parts are getting harder to come by, especially suitable air spaced variable capacitors for tune and load of the tank circuit.
