Hi I have just been on usb talking to a nice man from the Algarve and he asked for my full call sign all I use is 220.. So please can I have a call sign as I want to use sidebands properly , so I hope I meet the requirements.. Regards Lee

Call signs aren't mandatory but they can't half come in useful, especially for DX contacts.
I am delighted to allocate you 26-CT-4852 may you have good luck with it.

Remember that with a difficult international DX you can just call "26-Charlie-Tango" showing that you're from England and part of the Charlie Tango group. (The group is easily found with a web search.) If someone responds with a "26 go ahead" or "Charlie Tango make your call", (just typical examples), then you can add your membership number to your call. In your instance "four-eight-five-two" or even "Forty eight - fifty two" should suffice and give them all the information they need about you. (A quick look on this site will show who you are and can even respond to you for an electronic QSL or confirmation should they wish.)
When using PMR with shorter transmission distances (unless you've experienced tropospheric propagation ) or local CB calls most drop the "26" part and just use "Charlie Tango" with your number.
