Hi, recently back to 11m after a short 35 year break! Joined a local group and pleasantly surprised by the activity in my area.
I'm running a crt6900 with a half wave vertical ON MY NARROWBOAT it looks silly but my superb counterpoise seems to be making it boom out!
I'd like to request a callsign please, and learn how to enter the dx rabbit hole!
Bex

Hi Bex,
Welcome to Charlie Tango.
Great intro there and there's nothing silly about any antenna, even on a narrowboat. (Well done with setting that up. )
I am delighted to allocate you 26-CT-4893 may you have good luck with it.
All the best, Victor

You're more than very welcome.
I'm sure if I can squirt 10 Watts through a lawnmower lead in my loft and hitting Europe (no, really!) you should more than manage with your 6900 and narrowboat mounted half wave.
(It's just listening out for on-air activity and reaping what Mother Nature rewards us with.)
Have fun and enjoy yourself.

Great stuff there Bex.
I think that's no more out of place than the otherwise instantly recognisable TV antenna on the boat next door.
Oh, and watch out for low bridges.
(Is that a tilt over mast base it's mounted to? In which case ignore my flippant remark about bridges. )

I really am! Probably more than I ought to be tbh, i tried for ages back in the 80's on the rare occasion the skip ran higher than the QRM, never had any luck. SSB is a definite game changer.

Relish the moment, I still get excited every time I make a contact.....every time!
Yep, Sideband is where it's at and I was lucky enough to own a few back in 19-clickety-click.
Really pleased for you Bex and here's to many more.

Hello Bex, welcome to Charlie Tango.
I did exactly the same thing after passing my Amature Radio exam. My first QSO was with a German station the operator was an absolute gent. After the QSO I realised I hadn't written his call sign down so my log is missing the most memorable contact of all!!
Best of luck with your radio pursuits.

Hello and welcome Bex. Nice to see a female joining the airwaves for a change rather than grumpy old men
I see your in worksop from your profile. I assume the chesterfield canal. Is that connected to the national network?
