Call sign Request (Issued)

Hi, I've been watching a lot of Fred in the Shed on youtube and have decided to dip my toes back into the CB world. Just purchased a new CB, antenna, PSU, VSWR and a ton on coax... My handle is WhippetGas but I'd like a callsign to feel more like a proper member of the community!

Hello Chris,

I can see that you have filled in your profile now to include your name but you seem to have put your surname as the country and a maidenhead locator as your QTH. 

I can correct the country for you and I know roughly where you are as you are in my neck of the woods but we will need your QTH details as in the town/city you live in or near. This is mainly for your benefit to state who you are should you forget or otherwise mislay your call sign details, (happens more often than you'd think!)

The nearest town is fine and for example I am located in Elstow but my nearest town is Bedford so recorded as such but I have a choice of locations for your area so need you to fill me in.

This might seem a pain and should be easier than this to get a call sign which it usually is if people follow the instructions and provide the basic details.

I'll check back again on my next round of call sign allocations to see if you've updated your details and get you issued if you have.

Righto, I've corrected the name issue and my location is either Huntingdon or Bedford as depending where you measure to as the centre of the town it's about the same distance. I've put Huntingdon for arguments sake.

By the way, I used to live in Elstow too!

Hello Chris, thanks for the QTH update.

It may seem a little pedantic at first but if we allowed less specific QTH information when people search the call sign directory for "Chris from Cambridgeshire" there could be several people with the same information. It's a great help for members and the admin team to distinguish between different members.
