Subject: President George II UK PRICE! Sun Oct 01, 2023 1:15 pm
UK price of the George II announced today by Knights Electrocom:
£339 standard £349 expanded Plus £9.95 delivery
So that's £358.95 to get an expanded radio to your door.
Equivalent to €414
That's a lot of money for a CB radio especially one with the same board inside as the CRT 3900, CRT 7900V, ARES II etc.

Now that explains why some breakers opt for a Ham radio rig, you could probably get a tidy Icom IC-706 or similar for about the same money!

Wow, and I thought my McKinley was expensive. I can't see them shifting many at that price!

President McKinley II a better option if it's that price, I've seen it as low as £259.

It's great for CBers here in the UK these days to purchase new expanded SSB units so openly from shops with a guarantee and have the option to return them if there are issues. A bit different to some years back when you more than often picked up a used one that had passed through many hands and had inherited quirks and issues along its life.
This one looks nice, but very expensive. If I was starting out again and it was the only option, I might save for it, but as there a plethora of new options now though I'd probably opt for the 6900 again at a fraction of the price.
As mentioned already by Victor, it's almost in the HF rig price bracket. If you shop around you can get a brand new G90 expanded which will tx practically the whole of the HF spectrum up to 20W and has more features for literally only a few pounds more.

Hi Just as a comparison. I bought a NATO 2000 when they first came out in the U.K. (£120) in 1983 (I think) and that was 4weeks wages for me. 17 years old and 40 hours before deductions. So although £350 sounds a lot (it is) that’s probably not so bad considering it’s now 40 years go!
