Subject: FT8 on Freeband Frequencies? Sat Oct 14, 2023 7:57 pm
After successfully conecting a loaned YAESU FT-817 to a Free FT8 Android app Named FT8CN. I spent an evening watching contacts communicating across the globe and while I found frequencies just above and below the freeband, I couldn't find any that I could use my CT callsign on. So does anyone use FT8 on the freeband frequencies and if so what are thay please as I would love to reply or even call DX on FT8 before I sit my Foundation Exam.

Have a look at PSK reporter for JS8. Mostly Europe but also 2,173,43 Divs. Right now 44 div. JS8 accepts 11m callsigns. JS8 software download at http://files.js8call.com/latest.html Good luck 14ct007 Ian

I'll have a go as soon as I return from work Wednesday Morning and then post the outcomes.
I've heard lots of what sounds like data streams on the freeband frequencies but haven't been able to pin down what modes they are.
Thanks for the help and time, it's really appreciated

JS8 is on 27245. Other common ones on 11m are ROS 27635, SSTV 27700 Sometimes PSK31, RTTY and others on 27500 73 14CT007 Ian

Ihave had a few cw contacts on 27.500 , same folks most of the time .Im sure i tried ft8 on WSJT-X on 27mhz cant remember if it worked !!, i will give that Js8 a go .Must admit i got fed up with ft8 its too easy to make contacts i prefer a bit of a rag chew with folks .Im sure i saw a new digi mode that has a chat box but i never followed it up .
