Finally took the plunge and got the old ts120 set up on ft8, took a bit of messing with inputs and volume control, mic gain etc etc Just got oo love this radio hobby, allways something to learn and tinker with

Very well done there Jimmy.
I do like to hear of others hooking up more modern modes like FT8 onto vintage radio gear. So long as you allow for warm-up and keep a reasonably constant room temperature things like VFO drift aren't too much of an issue.
If I see you pop up on my waterfall I'll give you a shout.

Cheers victor I'll keep a lookout for all of you and yes the radio works fine for vintage sort of age but the vfo does shit up/ down only by 1 so just keep an eye on it

Make sure you don't overdrive the audio input so you don't end up with a splattering signal. Set the meter to show ALC, start transmitting a CQ with zero audio input and increase the TX audio it until you get to the power output the radio is set for. You should see only a flickering of the ALC meter.
