Hi
Please could you help, I am currently using an A99 the top of the antenna is approx 34.0 ft from the ground, I am looking to put up an Thunder bolt SSD12 + CB/11M portable antenna using a fishing pole the top of the wire when attached to the pole will be approx 49.0ft from the ground, would this preform better on SSB.
I know the old rule the higher the better, but in this case may not be the same case..
Cheers
Andy

Hello Andy,
They're both half wave antennas so from that point of view things will be fairly equal. The additional height will be an advantage. SSB will perform better than AM/FM but I wouldn't expect there to be much difference between the two antennas depending on the mode used.
Best 73,
Gary.
