Hello everyone I’m new here my call sign is Elevation (Glyn Smith) from near Blackpool I recently came across my old Rig from the 80s and decided to dust the cobwebs off and see if it would work, to my surprise it all works and have installed in my van giving me a rekindled passion however I am surprised that the airwaves are not like they used to be in the 80s Nevertheless I’m happy listening to white noise until someone comes through. Please could you supply me a call sign number

Hello Glyn,
Welcome to Charlie Tango DX.
I am delighted to allocate you 26-CT-5071 may you have good luck with it.
All the best, Victor
CT Admin.
Having your CB mounted in your van gives you the advantage of being able to travel to different locations and check out activity in your area. A lot of CB transmissions nowadays does seem to be with sideband or SSB use giving further contact range including DX activity so might be worth looking at a radio upgrade at some time. Also it's all well and good listening to the 'white noise' waiting for on air activity but worth shouting out now and then on the usual channels just in case anyone else is out there also just listening. (No one will ever know anyone is there unless they transmit. )
I wish you well with it all.
