SW DX Catches 0-30 mhz

Did not find general SW section or post so i add here some general SW catches every one thinks is worth it
Here at Corfu Greece VOLMET weather from UK at 3413, 8957, 13264 usb ... & MUMBAI Air Traffic Control for ocean 8879 usb heard & the pilots .. just little while ago




Here 28.500 from Denmark World Music Radio some times can hear it mornings, this is since the other day

she had over 100 calls catch at Corfu Greece

this is not SW but is my best catch at MW Family Radio 1560 with just 50W & just internal ferrite & portables radios ... that night was around 06:00 local time wake me strong rain, then when got better switched on the radios (most of times i do hear radiow & mot much tv) and i did catch it

Just few minutes ago (CB band is closed to me so scans at SW) ... 6930 khz seems from South America, will play mainly Latin music ... 6945 khz unknown but stronger to my location ... both with pl-990 & 3m wire indoor as antenna

tonight just little while ago 6675 khz Greek pirate off-bander with only music

ΕDIT i remember now an other (or the same) with music i did catch at 6630 very  long time ago)


  also 8888 khz & 8989 Volmet Russia speaking a lady voice (not recorded) at my location

Once CB are down night time at my location, SW catches ... just a little while ago at Corfu Greece with PL-990X & 3m wire as indoor antenna ...
Here my Best catch of 8879 khz Mumbai Air Traffic Ocean Control with voice of Tower, Pilots (two at live demo video Biman & Kenya) & also planes Map Location ...
Once i noticed the planes location at the map from Flightradar, seems is the West sector of Mumbai where possibly they have directional antenna pointed at West & perhaps that is why is coming often to my location (but not so sure if is directional beam) ... Thanks

FM SKIPS PARADE from Middle East (Israel, Jordan Palestine) at Corfu.
My fist FM DX skips for this year,    just to get an idea how appearing at Greece, the band was full of them for over 2.5 hours...some covered few local fm stations, some got RDS... I add them with freqs order if helps to scroll easy to the possible desired freq ... Thanks

this local NAVTEX 518 khz from Corfu ...recorded 3 years ago with pl-990 & fldigi installed at laptop... they still transmitting 2-3 times a day, some times i do hear them when i scan MW ... but did not attempted to record it again

Hello, after 7 years of dab+ dx catching, for my first time i ve got SPORADIC E at dab+ 1780km ...
5B Z-H/Zeeland from Holland to Corfu Greece...Seems is the Westdorp transmitter with 10KW & signal passed over Italian Alps



I do usually do some scans to lock over 300 digital radios at good days... so today i did start as usual one more ... Notice when locked (luckily at begin fo the scan other ways will not release as was so many stations) how fast i stopped the scan to find out which provider was (was expecting Italian) .. unfortunately even i stopped the scan immediately the signal was lost ... but figure out the provider via the radio memory

I still enjoy SWLing. I have just put up a 25m wire in the garden and strung it up in the trees. Despite the high noise level, I hear some interesting broadcasts.

Hi, thanks, 25m wire should do some good job ...currently down to Corfu i can hear a tapping USB covering from 8500 -8700 khz, seems like radar ...does any one getting it at UK ... 8600-8700 is very strong can hear it even with out SSB radio, seems main signal is about 8680 khz thanks

i also can hear 13282 volmet from pacific

CB is dead the last couple of days maybe due to overheat

today, with indoor antenna, checked the ISS 145.800 mhz & luckily the Astronaut was speaking ... managed to hear his last words (if i knew his was in the mood for chat i will be waiting earlier) ... was passed South England, France, Germany
Was waiting the second pass after about 1.5 hrs but this time was only open the down-link 437.800 mhz for the Amateurs




However about 2 years ago i did managed to hear lady Astronaut next days after she appeared at Euro vision contest song

If my ears (getting older) is not mistaken, this is 1440 khz Radio Maranatha Nicaragua with 25W (according to MWlist) over Atlantic all the way to eastern Europe with internal ferrite antenna indoors, last night just about midnight

Amazing DX job !

Interesting, this is making me want to build a Yagi beam for DAB, see what stations I can catch.

There are few youtube videos with some guys from Europe using some directions VHF antennas with ok results for DX ... Can also be use some small simple ready made tv antenna for this band III VHF ... here some still have few ready made because few years ago was using it at ch 1-12 for the national tv channel ERT1 (closed down because that freqs will be use future dab+ ... at Corfu with a small one like this below, use to get ch7 RTSH1 Albania & ch9 ERT1, north part of Corfu some others use to get & 2-3 Italians there freqs)
