| Hi guys, I've got a CRE 8900 that I use in my car, together with a whip of unknown origin. Does anyone happen to know what this whip is? The length of the whip is about 135 cm. Don't bother about the chunky bit 1/4 down from the top, that's a repair I had to do after having my MOT at a service station with little ceiling clearance... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am very happy with the performance and would like to get a couple of spare whips if possible. | |

Craig It looks like you may be right. I did a couple of google searches and it looks a lot like a Sirio DV 27. Thanks for the tip! Now I just need to find a couple, I think ebay might be my best bet as they are discontinued. It gives me great performance, I've talked to France, Italy, UK, Ireland and more from my Syncro bus so I hope I can get one or two as spares. Thanks again!

| DV27. First proper mobile aerial I used after using a telescopic disguised thing when CB became legal. Used to work really well with the top screw in piece for SWR adjust. When placed on the roof of the car though it was very easy to clatter against low car park ceilings and barriers - hence the damage to the top end. I was thinking of buying the Sirio equivalent - still advertised.

That is a DX 27 because it has a thicker helical wound bit at the top, the normal DV27 didnt have it ,I use to sell the in the CB shop I use to help out in.

Was my first on a tin on the top of the stairs. That's true that's why I was saying it's a DX27 which was black

| The DX27 has windings all the way up it. A DV27 is top loaded. If anyone is interested, a DV27 cut to 42 inches is a cracking mobile aerial for 4 metres (70MHz) | |
