Hi All

Trust all are keeping well and safe, as their is not much to do.. looking at my home base aerial set up with my Lincoln 2..

so some advise please if possible, my current aerial is as A99 with a fire-up stick top section had the aerial set up on the side of my house, the SWR is very good but do get a lot of back ground noise.

I have had the A99 with the fire-up set up for 20 years plus..cheers

Bit its time to put new one up and change the coax Very Happy confused

Thank you very much

Cheers AND STAY SAFE..

It's probably the coax deteriorating that's contributing to the noise. Lifespan is supposed to be about 10 years.

Take the antenna down, check the connections around the matching section and SO239 aren't corroded, check the coax for loss. You might not need to replace any of it and it is simply that the world around you has got noisier. But if coax has been up 20 years, it's likely a bit of moisture has got into it somehow, and I would probably change it anyway.

People often spend buckets of money on an antenna and putting it up, and then feed it with cheap coax, when in thelong term they would get more bang for the buck doing it the other way round.
