What a way to end the net 😃 and I see it got better after I had shut down my station.

Cheers for catching on video 👍

Hello all and welcome

Here is my report for the Southern Area and South Coast Net held on Thursday 08-06-2023.
The net can be found on channel 39 FCC, Mid-block or 27.395 MHz using LSB and is scheduled to start at 19:00 UTC  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f556  or 20:00  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f557  UK time.

My location was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f333  in the County of East Sussex. Where the weather was clear and sunny, a slight hazy in the distance and a mild breeze that did get stronger at the end of the net. The temperature was 15 degrees C and the start and dropped to 10 degrees C by the time I packed up and headed home.

My working conditions were the Anytone AT-6666 set at about 30 Watts (when I give it a good "AAUUDDIIOO" into the mic), transmitting out of a Solarcon A99 antenna a massive 3 meters in the air and all powered by a couple of car batteries 🪫 Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f50b

The band was noisy with low voices, whistles, tones, beeps and Heterodyne noise (what ever that is?)

Here is the list of stations heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Welcome welcome

Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net held on Thursday 15-06-2023

The net can be found on channel 39 FCC, 39 on the mids or 27.395 MHz using the mode of LSB and is scheduled to start 20:00 UK  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f557  time.

My location for the night, was not Radio Corner in Ashdown Forest  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f334 . This was being used by a amateur who was doing a CW contest. After a chat about things radio, I wished him 'best 73, good luck and good DX' and drove off to Secret Corner in Ashdown Forest  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f334 . This is where I set up the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic) and the Solarcon A99 all powered by a couple of car batteries  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f50b .

The weather was hot and sticky so I spent most of the night sitting outside the mobile shack.

After some time on GE FM net I moved down to channel 39 and started the Southern Area and South Coast net.

Here is the list of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Hello & welcome

Here is my report for the SA & SC SSB Net held on the night of Thursday 22-06-2023

The net was on channel 39 of the FCC, CEPT, Mid-block or 27.395 MHz and uses the mode of LSB. It is scheduled to start at 20:00 Hrs 🕗 or as soon as the chair has set up and got on air.

I was set up in Radio Corner Ashdown🌳  Forest, in the county of East Sussex and was using the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic) pushing about 30 watts out through a Solarcon A99 mounted about 3 metres in the air and all of this is powered by a couple of car batteries.

The weather was again hot and sticky thanks to the cloud cover and there was always the possibility of a thunder storm on he horizon, luckily, it only rain and later in the night the clouds cleared and I could see a crescent moon 🌒

I called out at 8 o'clock give or take a few seconds and the net was underway.
All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Hello and welcome

Here is my report for the SSB net held on Thursday evening of the  06-07-2023

My location for the night was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest  Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net - Page 16 1f332  in the county of East Sussex, the working conditions were the Anytone AT-6666, a dodgy bit of coax and a Solarcon A99 all powered by a couple of 12 volt car batteries.

The weather was warm with a gentle breeze, high wispy clouds and a hot air balloon lazily drifting in the sky. The temperature at the beginning of the net was about 18 degrees C and at the end it was still a pleasant 11 degrees C.

Channel 39 LSB was noisy with faint stations heard on both sidebands, and some stations on both AM and FM, all mixed in the normal tones, bleeps and other radio sounds.

On with the list of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

If you didn't hear him today Ray, on Muppets 19 he has been praising you for your help and the speed that you got to him. Also after you got him on his way he came across a lady in need of assistance, and didn't actually get home until virtually daybreak.

Well done to both of you! Smile cheers

Hello and welcome

Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB net, held on Thursday 03/08/23

The net is held on frequency 27.395 MHz or channel 39 FCC/CEPT/EURO/MID-BLOCK band using the LSB mode and is scheduled to start at 20:00 or 8 o'clock UK time, UTC 19:00 or 09:00 (HST) in Honolulu.

My location for the night was Radio Corner Ashdown Forest 🌳 (home of Winnie the Pooh🐻 ), in the county of East Sussex, where I was joined by Russell (Speed Bird) and later Steve (TC 156).

The weather was a mix of blue skies, clouds and rain later on.

I started the net using a Alinco DX-70 HF set, I found this a great radio as it had the filters to reduce passing electric car noise and the annoying tick that my mobile radio shack has when the engine is running and it also allowed me to do some SWL and ham band earwigging.
The downside of using the radio as a portable, was the drain on the batteries 🔋🪫🪫, so it was back to the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic). Both radio's were connected to the Solarcon A-99.

Here is my list of the stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

RB 456--Nick--East Grinstead--West Sussex

TC 156--Steve--Ashdown Forest 🌳--East Sussex--2nd location of the night
CT 4169--Martin--Hasting--East Sussex
CT 4013--Tony--Brighton--East Sussex
AL 01--Alan--Redhill--East Sussex

CT 700--Dave--Mobile 🚗 A23--West Sussex--2nd location of the night

FB 249--Jay--Cowfold--West Sussex
and me CI 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest 🌳--East Sussex--In the chair 💺

Thank you all who called in and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard, why not give it a go another time and if you spot a mistake or I have left you off the list, let me know and I will update or correct it.

Hello and welcome

Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast Net held on Thursday 10-8-2023.

The weather on this Thursday night was a mixed bag, it started out sunny with high wispy cloud and zero breeze, later in the evening it did get breezy with a bit more cloud. Which later caused all sorts of problems when the night finished as I had put the antenna up another pole section.

My radio of choice was the Anytone AT-6666 (no power mic and no amp) powered by a couple of car batteries 🪫🔋, set on channel 39 mid-block or 27.395 MHz using LSB.

The net started on time at 20:00 🕗 and the first in the log was

and me, CI 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest 🌴--East Sussex--In the chair 💺

All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Thank you all who called in and sorry if you tried and wasn't heard. The band conditions were very strange on the night, with both ground wave and skip going up and down quicker than an express elevator.

73 and all the best

Two questions Ray.
(Resisting a Uranus gag 🤣)
Did the astronomer let you look through the telescope?
And did you manage to convert them into a radio nerd ? ,👍🏼

Well done Nige in resisting the Uranus joke 👍, I didn't on the night 😅

I didn't get a chance to look ☹ and I'm not sure if radio would be his thing.

Hello and welcome

Here is my report for the net held on Thursday 21-09-2023

The net can be found on channel 39 of the mid-block or the FCC/CEPT/EURO band, and uses the Lower Sideband mode. It is scheduled to start at 20:00 Hrs 🕗 UK time or 19:00 UTC 🕖 or 15:00 EDT 🕒.

My location was a wet Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest 🌴 in the county of East Sussex, were I had set up the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic) and the Solarcon A99 all powered by a couple of car batteries 🔋🪫.

For visitors reading this, Ashdown Forest is best know as being the home of Winnie the Pooh created by A A Milne, the nuclear bunker/police training facility, the Canadian airmen's grave and Radio Corner.

The band conditions was just America coming in "wall to and tree top tall!", sometimes blocking local 20 mile contacts

With the challenging weather and band conditions, on with the list of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net.
