Hello and welcome
Here is my report for the SSB net held on Thursday 19-10-2023.
The net can be found on channel 39 LSB on the FFC allocation or for those with HF radios 27395.00MHz and is scheduled to start at 8 o'clock BST or 19:00 UTC
My location was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex where the weather was raining , followed by fog and then a storm with lightning which brought the net to an early end.
My working conditions were the Anytone AT-6666 powered by a 12 volt car battery and the Solarcon A-99.
The band conditions were alive with many stations and noise. So with Canada , the US , south America and then Europe being heard it was a challenging night.
Now on with log of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Welcome to my report for the net held on Thursday 02-11-2023
With storm Ciaran doing her best to bring the country to a stop, and the 40 something anniversary of UKFM, I didn't expect to many to call in. So I thought, with the skip being amazing over the previous weeks, I was going to take the opportunity to do some DXing and mix it up with the net.
I got to Radio Corner Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex and set up the Anytone AT-6666 powered by a car battery and put up the Solarcon A-99. With the Solarcon swaying in the wind, I tuned in to channel 39 (27.395 MHz) to check the SWR and WOW, I thought my radio was broken, no 2 or 9 division booming in, no Euro skip, no UK stations, nothing, just static.
After I had checked the SWR and sent a couple diddly diddly beep after transmission tones (roger beeps) out, I called out to start the net.
Here is the list of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net.
GB 23--Paul--Gatwick--West Sussex CT 4013--Tony--Brighton--East Sussex TE 310--Kevin--Leigh on Sea--Essex CT 4515--John--Brighton--East Sussex CT 4362--Chris--Reigate Town--Surrey TC 156--Steve--Gatwick--West Sussex CT 700--Dave--Crawley Down--West Sussex AL 1--Allan--Redhill--Surrey and me CI 2290--Ray--Ashdown Forest--East Sussex--in the chair
Even with less stations on, it was still an enjoyable night as it gave me the rare opportunity to chat to all.
Thank you all who called in.
Catch you next time, 73

Here is my report for the net held on Thursday 07-12-2023.
The Southern Aera & South Coast Net is held on channel 39 on the 'mids' or 27.395 MHz LSB, and is scheduled to start at 20:00 or 8 o'clock UK time, sometimes it can be a bit earlier or a bit later, depending when the 'chairman' arrives.
My location for the night was Radio Corner Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex were it rained all the night. This meant getting wet putting up and taking down the Solarcon A-99 so the Anytone AT-6666 could transmit it's 30 watts 'on the whistle' while being powered by a car battery

Hello and welcome to the last net before Christmas
Net 3 - Named Storms 0
Here is my report for the SSB net held on Thursday 21-12-2023.
My location for the night was a chilly, windy Radio Corner on Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex. The only good thing about the wind, was it pushed the clouds along and allowed the moon light to occasionally shine on Radio Corner.
The set up for the night was the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic) powered by a 12 volt car battery and a Solarcon A-99 antenna swaying in the wind but guyed with a ratchet strap.
The Scheduled start time for the net is 8 o'clock or 20:00 UK local time or there abouts.

Net 4 - Storms 0
Here is my report for the last net of 2023 held on Thursday 28th December 2023
My location was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex.
Even being rocked & jolted by the high winds and drenched by the rain from storm Gerrit, that didn't deter me from setting up the Solarcon A-99 antenna and plugging in, the 12 volt battery 🪫🪫 powered, Anytone AT-6666.
The net is scheduled to start at 20:00 or 8 o'clock UK time. Thank you to John CT 4515 who started thing off, as I turned up late due to Gerrit causing flooding, bring dead wood down from trees and spooking the deer which wanted to stay on the road.

Thank you all who called in, I was expecting low numbers due to the funny time between Christmas and new year. Sorry if you tried calling and wasn't heard, this may have been due to a station whistle and yelling audio/1234 while doing a radio check/alignment with his rusty screwdriver.
Storm Gerrit wasn't all bad, it did blow the clouds along so we saw that it was a full moon
That about wraps it up for this net and this year.

Hello & welcome
Here is my report for the SSB net held on Thursday 11-01-2024
The Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net is on channel 39 of the 'Mid-block', the FFC/US allocation, the CEPT band or 27.395 MHz and uses the LSB (lower sideband) mode. It is scheduled to start at 8 o'clock, 20:00 Hrs local UK time, but sometimes does start late due to work circumstances of the chairmen.
For the net, my location was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex and my working conditions were the Anytone AT-6666 (no amp no power mic), powered by a couple of 12 volt car batteries 🪫🪫 in the passenger foot well and a Solarcon A-99 mounted on a pole and drive on plate.
The weather was cold and breezy with what seemed like sleet in the air. The temperature at the beginning of the net was just above 4 degrees C and it a was colder and wetter at the end.
The band conditions were very strange on the night. At the beginning I was in the middle, with all the stations around me not hearing each other which made it difficult to pass stations around. Then it did start to come to life midway with a bit of ground wave.
Here is my list of stations hear and or worked by the net, all stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Thank you all who called in and for your patience and sticking with it under poor band conditions. Sorry if you tried and wasn't heard due to said band conditions. Give the net another go another time.

Hello and welcome
Here is my report for the SSB net held on Thursday night 18/01/2024
My location was a clear, cold, frosty 🥶 but dry Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex. With a clear sky, it allowed me to see the 1/2 moon and the constellation of Orion.
My working conditions was the old battered Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic) and a Solarcon A-99 antenna, the Anytone was powered by a couple of 12 volt car batteries 🪫.
The Southern Area & South Coast Net is held on channel 39 mid-block, 27.395 MHz, using the LSB mode and is scheduled to start at or about 20:00 Hrs or 8 o'clock UK time
About 90 minutes before the net started, I could hear the USA on all the normal channels like 6, 16, 19, 20, 28, 37, 38 & 39 and thought that tonight was going to be a good one. Alas by the time the net started, it had faded away, leaving a flat, quiet band.
Here is my list of stations that the net heard and or worked. All stations are 26 division.

Thank you all who called, the net did start off slow, and I did think at one point that it would be over by 21:30 , but people called in and kept it going until gone 23:00 . Sorry if you tried and wasn't heard, please do try again another Thursday night and maybe at another time during the night.
That wraps thing up till next time

Hello
Here is my report for the Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net, held on Thursday 25th on January 2024.

Hello and welcome to the first Southern Area and South Coast SSB Net of February
This is my report for the net held on Thursday 01-02-2024
My location was Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex. The weather at the beginning of the night was cool, clear and still, when the net finished the temperature had dropped and the wind had picked up bringing clouds with it.
My working conditions were a early version Anytone AT-6666 (no amp, no power mic), powered by a couple of car batteries 🪫 and the antenna system was a Solarcon A-99 about 3 meters in the air.
The net is held on channel 39 mid-block, FCC, CEPT or 27.395 MHz using Lower Side Band (LSB) and starts at 20:00 Hrs or 8 o'clock PM local UK time.
Before the net started, I was lucky enough to get a bit of DXing in and made the following contacts.
So after a bit of DXing across the pond, the net started. Here is my list of stations that called in and were heard and or worked by the net. All stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

It was, from my point of view, a great night with the skip at the beginning and the ground wave during the net
Thank you all who called in, sorry if you tried and wasn't heard, please do try again another Thursday night as we would like to work you and get you in the log.
That bring this report to an end

Hello & welcome
Here is my report for the 2nd Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net held in February on Thursday 08th 2024.
My location was a wet windy and rainy Radio Corner, Ashdown Forest in the county of East Sussex.
After getting wet putting up the the Solarcon A-99, I got into my mobile radio shack and connected it up to the battery powered Anytone AT-6666 (no burner no power mic). While I waited for 20:00 Hrs or 8 o'clock to come round, I had a flick around 27 MHz and heard the 'normal' channel 19 noise, a lively super bowl, East Coast America and some of Europe.
Just before 8 o'clock I tuned into channel 39 on the mid-block or 27.395 MHz on LSB and prepared to start the net. Here is my list of stations heard and or worked by the net, all stations are 26 division unless otherwise stated.

Thank you all who called in, and to the listening station for the video short.
If you did try calling in and wasn't heard, don't give up, give it another go another Thursday night.
After the net ended, it was back out into the rain to take the antenna down, and drive home through the flooded roads, to dry out.
Thank you for reading down this far

OOPS!
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER. . . .
Welcome welcome
Here is my report for the 3rd Southern Area & South Coast SSB Net held in February.
The date was Thursday 15th 2024.
The location, a secret, as Radio Corner was off limits to me.
The weather at the secret location was clear and still.
Working conditions, Anytone AT-6666 (NO amp NO power mic) powered by 2 car batteries 1 fully charged the other half charged and a Solarcon A-99 antenna
The net is held on channel 39, or 27.395 MHz on the American band using LSB, and is scheduled to start at 8 clock or 20:00 pm UK time.
Band conditions, lots of 2 and 9 division at the start making it hard to hear the early callers but it did quieten down as the night went on.
Thank you to John CT 4015 who stepped in and started the net and has now adopted the rank of 'Net Starter, 2nd in command'

Yep, it's always worth a try. As you probably know Lincolnshire has made it before, including one chap near Humberside Airport.

Hi all, Just showing my new power supply that I used on the net on Thursday 22nd Feb. My rig was powered by a DeWalt 18V 5A battery. It lasted the evening (3 hours) and still had 1 bar of power left. Not too shabby when the rig has a 16Amp draw on transmit. I'm ready to hilltop this setup now.
Thanks guys for all the contacts and also for your hard work Ray.

Hi Dave
Great portable set
Is the silver box on top of the DeWALT battery a voltage reducer keeping things a 12.8 volts and if it is, did it work well in this application?
