Subject: Hello and Greetings from North Wales (Issued) Tue May 19, 2020 2:40 pm
Hi Everyone,
I've been into radio since my Father bought me a second hand Trio 9R59DE RX valve radio in 1978 when i was 10 years old. A couple of years later i got to "Have a go" on an International Jumbo and spoke to somebody in North America!!
When the muppet band was legalised in November 1981, i got my first rig, a Rotel RVC 220, with a magmount in a biscuit tin!!
Ive always "owned" a CB of some sort or other, but now with the availability of SSB radios at very reasonable prices, i just went off and bought an Alinco DR135DX, spurred on by the wealth of information out there on the web. Big "Shout out" to Steve CT 318 and Fred CT 1664, not forgetting M0OGY.
As i live in North Wales, I'd like to be considered for a 163 CT callsign.
I'd also like to hear from any members in North Wales, or even the Isle of Man. im located right near the Coast of Northern Anglesey at Bull Bay (LL68 9ST) providing line of sight to the Isle of Man, North western UK, and beyond to south western Scotland and northern Ireland.
The current collection contains the following:
1 x Alinco DR135DX 1 x Delta LT 318 Multi (same as thunderpole T2000) 1 x Rotel RVC 240 (27/81 unmolested) 2 x Realistic Patrolman Pro 2026 scanners 4 x Baofeng UV-5R's
looking forward to hearing from members and contributing to the group.
Cheers!!

Hi Richard, I'm not that far from you in, Conwy Valley, a couple of big mountains in the way I run mobile as well as homebase, your intro reminded me of my first rig in the 80s, Eurosonic Mk2 from Farnborough Communications, I think I went through a Maxcom 4e, Harvard Good Buddy and my wonderful Tristar 777. Currently running 2 Superstars with Sigma antennae. Would be great to hear from you. Stay safe
