Same here.....nothing heard on 275 after about 30 minutes listening. A few faint French & Spanish stations on T5 (including Mr "Hola, hola Coca-Cola" talking to himself as usual) but that was all I could hear.

Nothing on those frequencies unfortunately.... Some good contacts made on mid-block, the UK40 and around the triple though.

Hello Tom,
I put my location down as Manchester as it is the closest city to my dx location. The reason being, I am a mobile station only. Where I go is roughly 15km from Manchester and over 500m asl. So, Birmingham is an easy contact for me, but I wouldn't use that as a guide for making contact into Sale. My home qth is actually Buxton in Derbyshire which is a black spot for radio, hence remaining mobile only.

No UK stations heard down my way unfortunately. Always been a bit sparse with local contacts anyway.
As John mentioned, loads of European stuff
Usual Italian nonsense to start, (music/shouting over each other/silly roger beeps and echos!), but settled later. Belgium, Holland and Denmark rolling in later but no firm contacts made. At least one station in Antwerp got my CT callsign right but he verhemently stuck with FM mode and had trouble with a firm QSO.
All in all what most people would call a terrible night.....but I flipping enjoyed myself trying!
Well worth the excuse to sit in front of my radio for a few hours. (Successful or not, I still get a kick out of trying!)

As I said in my first post the usual nothing down South/London way I sit it out for a bit and listen and called now and then but TBH all I got in the end was French /German stations on FM giving me 9/10+db blocking it al out infact all over the mids it was like it ,I did get a couple in to Germany just by calling QSK on a frequency where I heard any Germans talking the French ignored me lol.

Hi Martin,
Mid band did get hectic with Continentals for some time but I had no luck here so well done mate. Would've loved a few German contacts as so far I've found they're about the friendliest with CB contacts from the English.
What's with the French??!!?? Sent a recording of some French breakers responding to me to a friend who speaks French.....she told me I didn't really want to know what they were saying....apparently the most vulgar French language she's ever heard!
Anyway, was fun working the radio for an evening.

Hello Victor mate ,yeah I do find the Germans seem to be friendly towards us in the UK I often speak to Germany and the Netherlands when conditionsaregood ,they even try to talk to us in there broken English too which makes me feel embarrassed that I cant even speak any German to even try and converse back, as for the French stations some are OK as I've had good QSOs with French operators over the years, but sometimes they can be a bit over the top, as for Italians I'm use to them with all the power and over the top calling lol, they've been doing that for years I can even remember them blocking us out on AM back in the 70s , I can't wait for the skip to open up properly for some real long distance DX like it use to be.

Hello Lads,
Oh the froggies,,,,,,,,,,,, What can I say, Theres an old saying that's fits quite well " Lets be French and selfish"............ What you need to do is speak in French to them ie, , Agent Court, Trafalgar, Waterloo. to name but a couple,,,,,,, Just to put a lighter note on it. I have French in laws and a Step brother who hasn't spoken to me since I sent him a video for Christmas,,,,, Henry V ,,,,, lol If im honest I do the same, I ignore them, cant stand the stench of garlic,,,,lol enough frog bashing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for now lol

Hiya Martin,
Yeah, know what you mean mate. I've tried a little bit of German language and as embarrassingly poor as my German is they're always thrilled that at least you've tried The E-skip has been fun for the last few weeks but I can't wait til we reach solar maximum for some proper CB DX. Here's hoping mother nature is kind enough to let me make it to the next few years!
-----
Hi Tom,
I've had some good QSOs with the French back in the day but just recently I've had some rude breakers. I suppose some "bash" us as badly as some of us "bash" them, not a problem when it's a bit of banter. Nothing better than a good laugh I honestly couldn't care less who you are, if you're lucky to be sat on the end of a radio then it's all good
-----
Well considering the event was a celebration of legal SSB/AM and I was hoping to for some UK contacts I think it worked out rather well. It did get us on our radio's giving it a bash on those modes and frequencies and I suppose that's what it's all about. Might dig the Walkie out tonight and give the PMR Sunday event a bash
All the best, Victor

Getting back to the subject of the anniversary Delboy does them every year ie: the one just gone and he also does the anniversary of CB actually becoming legal on FM 27/81and it's the always the same every year nothing heard down South /London but it use to be always more celebrated further Oop North lol why I dont know ,as for the UK SSB calling channel TBH that never took off either dont know why either TBH I never heard one UK station call on it also he did a poll to keep the 14 mids AM as UK calling channel for AM (as a memory of original calling channel in the days of pre legalised days of CB in the UK )again nobody used it infact nobody hardly use AM in the UK why I dont know it's a good mode to use l prefer it more than FM it makes me laugh back in the 70s I and others was demonstrating to get CB legalised on AM and we ended up with the weird 27/81 frequencies now we have AM and on the mids where we wanted it in the first place and no one uses it apart from a few and the old school CBers like me ,so instead of just using these modes and frequencies just once a year how about all year round CB is not just FM you have AM and legal SSB frequencies to use now why doesn't people use them more. P.S. I know we have 27:555 usb but that is for pirates and not really legal and I've been using it since Noah built his Arc lol but it would be nice to use our other legal modes apart from FM 27/81.

I agree with you wholeheartedly Martin, we should be using these frequencies all year round!
I know CB isn't as popular as it used to be, (thank heavens in some ways!), but there's plenty of new blood as well as us old gits still hanging in there and I was never fond of FM mode or our weird UK frequencies anyway.
Back in the day there used to be some good old night natters on the mid AM with nets stretching across a fair few counties, so it's easily do-able even by todays standards. AM was also good on the ears compared to SSB and you could hardly balls-up your modulation like you can with FM, (quiet audio back of the box or distorted to hell!)
Now I think about it, I second that motion, third it, fourth it.....!
My weird PLT interference stretches from 27.5MHz to 27.8MHz but mid-block is clean as a whistle.
With that, I may monitor mids a bit more and maybe even give out some shouts on the old 14!
Nicely said Martin. All the best, Victor

I actually do give a few calls out on the 14 AM mids, I wack up a bit of power and see if I get a answer never often do though lol shame really. I do remember that someone on here started a network on the 14 AM which I think was wrong really they could use any other channel to start a AM net, how about a revival of the 14 as the UK AM calling channel as Delboy done a poll on and a lot agreed but never did. We should have our own SSB calling frequency as like other countries do ,in fact I do have a list of them somewhere I will try and post them up when I get time you'll be surprised how many there is .

I agree with you, Martin. AM is a really good mode, especially for rag-chewing. It is much easier on the ears than fm, especially with the squelch left open. It would be great if it was used more often on mid-block.
