I have an old CB balcony antenna laying around, whip about 4', radial about 2' in a 120 deg angle, and was wondering if i could use it mounted in a 90 degree angle (the total setup, not only the radial). My thoughts are: it should give me horizontal polarised waves and i suppose it would be a directional antenna. Any thoughts (or just laughter )?
Also i stumbled on this article: http://cbradiomagazine.com/a-stealthy-homebrew-vertical-cb-dipole/ This guy uses 2 firestick mobile antennas. He didn't put that much power on it he says. Firesticks are rated for 200W. My amp delivers about 100W. Could i use that setup?

It'll work as you suspect but you may have issues with common mode RFI as it'll definitely be using the coax as the other half of the antenna so any increase in noise or people saying your audio has interference on it then that's the issue.
If you wanted a dipole I'd just build one out of wire. You can bend the legs to make it fit the space you have as long as the angle is at least 90 degrees and dipoles are quite forgiving in that regard. Just remember that the coax has to come away from the centre at right angles to the dipole, in this case horizontally, for at least a few feet.

As i said, just curious. Tomorrow the GPK for my A99 will come, so this weekend i'll try and get on the air with that one.
