CRT 7900 Beep voice prompt

First day with CRT 7900, impressed so far.

First (and probably not last) thing that's got me flummoxed,

Beep voice prompt

its on the roger key if held down, its not a menu option, its a simple toggle.
if you select it, the display shows BP  (beep prompt?)

However, I can't seem to see that it does anything at all?  Any ideas?

I cant for the life of me think what it is but I will do a little research.

I have had a 7900 and its a feature I never even noticed, let alone used :/

Its in the manual, page 10, but doesn't actually say what it is..

Im guessing its some kind of VOX or voice activation setting. Not much online I can find.

I found that it recognises both English and Chinese language so a VOX feature would be my best educated guess.

Or does it prompt the user to speak when the other person has finished their "over"?

My last thought is it could be for blind users. Like directions of how to use the radio if you cant see it.

So the radio talks to you when you change any setting to tell you what you have done,

Not noticed that, as I have had a second set with dummy load to chat to and fro

but that would be a great feature -  especially when someone's rambling on and you mentally tune out, just wait for the beep

Beeps when you press the buttons or not.

Pat, (Mr Tang), has it spot on there. It's just a function so that when you press the buttons they 'beep' or not.

Worth a look as often a "monkey-see, monkey-do" video is more helpful than a written manual.
(Beep function description is 11 minutes in if that helps).


I can see where Lee, (Firetrap), was coming from as some radios do indeed come with a 'voice' or vocal command feedback. Most will recognise the voice functionality of the Baofeng etc.

i have the same radio, the bp turned enables a bleep to sound when you push any of the buttons ie dw ,

No such luck....

It dosnt explain why the manual says voice prompt English and Chinese for that function though. Unless I'm totally missing the point. 

I'd call the function a Key Beep. Where there voice prompt comes into it my mind boggles

I I see it does have voice instructions, same as Baofeng.

You said you found the voice synthesiser function? I could find nothing on this except the 'beep'. 
Be nice if someone can confirm this and put us out of our inquisitive misery

I had a play, it does indeed just enable the annoying button bleep, so disabled again.
