pretty much made up my mind about buying a Sirio GainMaster 5/8 Wave 0.64w Base Station Antenna.
I have a Sigma Venom halfwave at the moment. This is mounted on a 35 foot Aluminium Flag Pole 2" dieameter. It's a pretty good Antenna with an almost perfect SWR across 40 channels (took a lot of time and effort). I find it does still bring in a lot of QRM/NOISE. I have used this for about 6 months and it's obviously a cheap Antenna, but it has done well.
Been reading a lot of GOOD reviews about the 5/8 GainMaster, but I wanted to seek out peoples opinions who have used...and STILL use these Antennas.
Be very grateful of some opinions of just how good....or...bad this Antenna is.

The SGM is a excellent performer and has low swr from 26_30 mhz, you will still get qrm and noise with any antenna,I have had mine up a good while and bends happily in the winds, the trick to mounting SGM is on a long pole so it can flex and not take all the strain, if mounted on a short stubby pole it will break.

Yeah this is on a 5 section interlocking 2" Aluminium, 25ft pole clamped into two very heavy gauge 6" x 9" stand-off brackets that are bolted to a wall and 10ft off the ground. VERY strong and flexible. I stood watching my Sigma swaying around in the recent gale force winds we had here, and the Aluminion pole took most of the pressure. In the strongest gusts the pole moved 8"-10" but there was absolutely no problem, so the GainMaster will be fine,it only weighs 6 kilos 6.6lb so it will be like strapping a feather to a Telegraph Pole.

Hi Dean,
Build it exactly as the instructions say and it should be spot on across the 11 meter band. Should also do 10 & 12 with the internal tuner on a HF set.
73's Gary.
