Subject: Antenna installation - best practice Sun Sep 20, 2020 12:48 pm
Good afternoon,
Does anyone have advise regarding protecting the joints of an antenna.
My Eurocomm Sigma has aluminium screw together joints. I have taken down the mast for a bit of an upgrade of Coax and was wondering what was the best method to protect the joints to reduce corrosion of the aluminium?
Ps. Upgrading from RG8 mini to Ultraflex.
Regards

Self amalgamating tape is the best. Is it the Skipmaster 2011 by any chance.

Thanks for the reply Alan,
No its the Sigma Eurocom SE HF 360 multiband, I think its a modification of the Skipmaster 2011, looks very similar.
I have seen people on Youtube using Dielectric grease but to my limited knowledge that grease is non conductive if its dielectric?
I have just been to Screwfix and bought some self amalgamating grease.
Cheers

I put a tiny bit of silicone grease on the threads but only a bit. Any will do just so it will come apart if needed used Vaseline in the past lol.
