Subject: are ferrite ring any good. Wed Mar 17, 2021 8:37 pm
I have noticed in the last few day, a fair amount of incoming noise on modulation, It is not the usual RF noise, it comes in more when people talk , I think maybe some of the wires surrounding me are giving off a electric signal. The only time this interference comes on is when someone transmits. I have ordered a set of ferrite rings from Ebay, and am going to put them on everything. This might work,it has got to be worth a go.

No harm to give them a try. Only possible issue with ebay purchases of them is that most listings I have looked at don't give a full spec of the ferrites. As you may know, mix 31 and 43 ferrites have found to be the best ones to supress interference on 11m.
If you've got them cheap, and you find they work well for you, do please share the link to the seller

Standard Multistandard CB Radio UK/EU/Multinorm thought Id just say in this section on the forum there has been a long thread already about ferrite rings and clips so there might be some more answers for all.

Nubster I did do a search, and only found 1 thread, if I duplicate a thread I dont mind admin removing it. I did a search on ytube today, and found some interesting info on the static crackle I was getting. i found one of the main causes of my problem, was a wifi extender for the camera mounted on the front of the house the extender is plugged in just below the cb ,unplugged the crackle almost stopped, I did suspect the router itself but it wasnt that. so when I get these ferrite rings I know now where to put them.

Hey Frank, did the ferrites from ebay arrive? Have you managed to give them a try, and if so any improvement?
I ordered a quantity of mix 43 snap-ons from Mouser at about the same time as you ordered from ebay. Mine hasn't arrived yet sadly. What's more annoying is that the FedEx tracking currently says its still in a depot in Memphis, TN. I thought I would get them quick ordering from a UK firm. If I knew they were going to be importing from the US I would of gone straight to Fair-Rite

Hi mate yes I did get them, sorry about not getting back to you. The problem I had with radio noise went away before I received them. I know my security camera wifi was giving off some static noise, and the ferrite has stopped that. What I did was put them on every wire around the CB,I maybe used 15 of them, I thought might as well go for overkill. I have had no extra crackling now just normal rf noise. my radio speakers have stopped buzzing when I key the mike, so that is a good sign. I think they make a difference, other people might disagree. Let me know how you get on , cheers frank

Ah great news, glad you got yourself sorted. If you've got any links to the ones on ebay or a seller name to share, that would be great so people know where they can get some good one from.
Ones I ordered are still showing as being with FedEx in Memphis I mailed Mouser.co.uk on Friday and asked them if this is normal for their shipping, but haven't even had a default courteous acknowledgement reply from them yet. They're not impressing me as a first time buyer.

DO NOT get those cheap things from EBay or Amazon, they don't work. Get them from RS Components

Unfortunately the good ones from Mouser I purchased, although they did finally turn up, didn't work for what I wanted them for. It looks most of the interference I am picking up at home is sadly through the antenna.
