Hello all
I have a rather nice collection of oldish radios mostly SSB and the like.
They have been sat boxed for years and for whatever reason I decided to get them all out at the weekend to fire them up.
Needless to say, sitting in boxes where i thought they would be safe and sound was not quite the case, although still in immaculate condition, there are a few with some niggles that need sorting out.
Question for you guys is where can i can them fixed, only silly things like volume not very loud or a button not working.
Are there such things as rig doctors anymore ?
If so can anyone recommend a good one, bearing in mind i live in Aberdeen !
Would appreciate any help

Beautiful collection of radios there Ray.
The last thing you'd want is some numpty ripping capacitors and the like out of them or twiddling with the infamous golden screwdriver. Might be worth having a shout out to local Hams to see who services their stuff and go from there. Sounds like most of those old girls only need a bit of a once-over anyway.
Can't help myself but that fake-wood-station-wagon front of the Stalkers grabs my eye every time.....lovely radios!!

I don't know any rig doctors personally now, anyone I trusted back in the day I have completely lost touch with.
You could try a few things yourself possibly. I don't mean start twiddling with pots, but just a dust blow out and a bit of switch cleaner can do wonders. Scratchy front controls and button switches can sometimes be rejuvenated with the spray. Quiet audio could be failing components in the rig, but, depending on the type and how their wired, a dirty mic ptt switch could be the culprit of which the spray could solve too. Worth a shot.

Looking at that collection makes me want to start doing repairs again they where the radios i used to do every week. No kit to do the job well very little and the prices of kit is a joke.

I’ve known Nick (Love) Ashley for a long time now and can say hand on heart that he’s one of the best rig doctors around. He’s very active on many of the CB groups and pages on Facebook and will receive radios by post or in person. He’s located in South Wales, if you have a search for him on Facebook and drop him a message, I am sure he will be able to help you. If you or anyone else does decide to sell any similar radios, then I’d be very interested in buying them. Many thanks guys 73’s

I use a chap called Brett 'The Rig Doctor'. He's based in Mansfield, has a group on Facebook called The Rig Doctor. Turns repairs around quiclly, reasonably priced and he's a really nice guy.
