Hi all, Dan from Congleton here & just getting into CB after dabbling a bit round the turn of the millennium, been a while lol.
Just recently snagged a couple of old rigs from auction near us, the first one is a Cobra 19GTL & original mic. which I don't even know if it works, meter is definitely u/s but it powers up and seems to xmit though I've not messed with it that much, not even sure yet what it's on. The second and better IMO is a Rotel 240 which is a 27/81 set, came with an Altai 510 power mic. I've got a cheap mag-mount and whip off ebay and after setting up I've made a couple of contacts though not had a lot of time to get on, and it's pulling plenty of activity (a lot of which seems to be folk with big burners as they're miles away and blasting in clear as you like!)
Anyway, thought I'd join a couple of forums to learn the ropes a bit more & make sure I don't make too many faux pas looking to make contacts. So, here I am & hoping in the future to get into a set capable of pulling in more than just UK breakers. Would very much appreciate a callsign just in case I do ever make contact with anyone on here lol
73, Dan

Thanks for the welcome, and yeah just chose GoldVolvo as that's where my rig's currently set up, '06 S80 D5 with 201k on the clock (just about run in then).
Will try and spend a moment to read up more about my rigs, any questions I'll look around and post if need be. Thanks

Hello Dan, welcome to the forum, unfortunately call signs aren't being issued at the moment due to technical issues, you will receive one when it's resolved.

Thanks Gary, no worries on the callsigns as I won't be troubling the DX for a while I fear haha. Did manage a couple of contacts tonight as far as Winsford and Heywood (18 and 50 miles respectively) but for the moment still learning the ropes, monitoring which channels have decent folk on and where the nobs tend to monopolise (*cough* 19 ) & feeling out my rig as it's not 100% yet. Will look towards getting an antenna at home too but I quite like the mobile aspect, getting out and finding high ground and seeing what comes in.
Cheers, Dan

Nice one Dan, it does take a while to get things sorted out, each area is different and what channels used vary a lot. All the best 73's Gary.
