Hi there I new to CT so first hello I looking at a few antennas and I had a a-99 years ago which didn’t have the rings on the bottom well I didn’t think it did ? Not sure what to go for A99 Stardust m400 I had one of these years for got name great antenna and swr 26 to 28 Thunderpole 5 Or simga 360hf Has everyone compared the simga 360 to the thunderpole 5 there look the same I interested how swr is on simga on 11m and 10m without a ATU and performance the simga could be the way to go if you get some ham bands too Looking forward to reading your review

Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum. I have the 360hf and it works better that i expected. You will need a tuner to work on the 11m band. As for the others you mention i have never tried them.

Hi Kevin, welcome. I think it will depend what you want to use it for, just 11m or more bands? If just 11m my preference out of the antennas you mention would be the Thunderpole 5/8, or other branded 5/8 silver rods. They work very well, may not last as long as an A99, but a lot cheaper.
The 360HF looks to be just a vertical random wire with built in unun in its base. As Alan says, it will need a tuner. I would think, though I haven't used a 360HF, that a 1/2 or 5/8 CB only antenna would probably have the edge over it and be cheaper too if just for 11m.

A m8 of mine uses a 5/8 silver rod on a few of the hf bands but a tuner is also used. It all depends on what bands you want to use most. For me a cb aerial for cb and hf aerial for hf but it is up to the user. Your 450d will tune quite a lot not a bad tuner at all in it. My 360 works ok on 11m but not as good as the gainmaster cb aerial i had up before. You can play antennas for ever lol.(i do)..

I am a fan of the A99 as I used one for 8 yrs without fail working the world during the last solar cycle. It has withstood high winds and is not too intrusive, unlike my Vector 4000 and Beam and i still use it portable.
A tip for long lasting use is to sandpaper each section and coat with varnish which stops fibreglass cracking.
Some have noise issues using them but I have always had zero noise when I had mine up at home.

there is no need to tune a gainmaster, its basicly a dipole inside a fibber glass pole and a 3 to 1 tuner takes out any miss match on the other bands

Hi all well I use a HF 360 from sigma and to be honest I also brought the add on kit and it works very well for me. Im currently using a icom 7300 on it and atu tunes every band it can So overall I myself think it's good value for money going on some of the other verticals I've seen for HF .

Howard With the add on kit for the 360 did you just fit it or dis you also SWR it. I have the kit to fit on mine but being disabled i can't keep going up a ladder. Not even opened the bag it's in yet has it any markings to give you a starting point.

Hi Alan If your using the kit and a atu then you could possibly get away with tuning the radials like myself and also make sure the radials are a bout 45 degrees either side it works well .as for the swr on them it's a matter of adjusting the whips like any other whip and don't get confused or mixed up to which you are tuning at the time as one is 80 and the other is 40 ok Good luck mate and let us know if you've put them on and how the performance is Cheers .

My hf360 is on a pole and the bottom of the antenna is around 4m/13ft of the ground.
